With Meta Martis, your archive stays under your control from the shelf to the finished file. Migration and AI indexing run inside your building, your tapes never leave, and the files land on storage you own in non-proprietary formats. Where you need one, an additional independent copy and an optional offline, air-gapped copy guard against ransomware, hardware failure and accidental deletion.

Why one copy is not enough
Most archives discover they have only one copy at the moment something fails. Moving a collection onto a single system relocates that risk rather than removing it. An additional independent copy of the archive is available where you require one, priced separately. Retrieval is in seconds, and there is no charge to get your own material back.
Your tapes never leave the building
The FlyPack migration system is installed in your facility and runs there for the length of the project. Tapes go from your shelf to the FlyPack and back to your shelf. Nothing is shipped to an outside lab, so there is no transit risk and no gap in your chain of custody.
- Capture, quality control and checksums happen on site, at the moment each tape is played.
- Naming and provenance are written at capture, so every file can be traced to the tape it came from.
- Your own staff can run the FlyPack, or Meta Martis provides operators who work in your facility.
AI indexing runs on your premises
Amplify AI indexing runs on a GPU server beside your storage, not in a public cloud. Speech, faces, on-screen text, logos and scenes are analyzed inside your building, and the metadata is written to your MAM or DAM and exposed through an API.
Where the files live
| Copy | Where | What it protects against |
|---|---|---|
| ALTO disk archive | In your facility, on storage you own | Tape decay and obsolete playback machines. Idle media is powered down. |
| Meta8 protected copy | A secure data center such as Equinix, or a location you choose, including multi-site copies | Loss of your building or local hardware. Access any file in 60 seconds. |
| Air-gapped copy (optional) | Offline and physically disconnected, on ALTO technology | Ransomware and accidental deletion, which cannot reach a disconnected copy. |
The local, Meta8 and air-gapped copies are configured per project. Restore paths are documented, and recovery is tested.
You own the content and the files
- Your content stays yours. Meta Martis never sells customer content.
- Non-proprietary formats. Files can be read from any Mac or PC without Meta Martis software.
- No egress fees. There is no charge to take your content back out of Meta8.
- No lock-in. No public cloud dependency for the archive to exist, and no vendor lock on the files.
- C2PA at digitization. We support C2PA, the open standard for content provenance, at digitization: provenance is captured as each tape is digitized and retained in the file.
Questions
Do our tapes have to leave the building?
No. The FlyPack is installed in your facility, AI indexing runs on a server beside your storage, and the files land on ALTO storage you own.
Does the AI send our content to a public cloud?
No. Amplify AI indexing runs on a GPU server in your building. The metadata goes to your MAM or DAM.
How are we protected against ransomware?
With a protected Meta8 copy in a secure data center and an optional offline, air-gapped copy that ransomware cannot reach, plus documented and tested restore paths.
Can we take our content back?
Yes. Files are stored in non-proprietary formats you can read without our software, and there are no egress fees.
Who owns the content?
You do. Meta Martis never sells customer content.
