Sustainability

A media archive is read occasionally and kept for decades, so it should not draw power all the time. Meta Martis keeps archives on storage that powers idle media down, for the lowest carbon footprint of any archive storage we have compared it with.

Storage that powers down

ALTO, the on-premises storage we install, keeps idle media powered down and spins it up on demand. It uses as little as 200 W per 1.5 PB.

Tapes never ship

The FlyPack migration system is installed in your facility, so tapes go from your shelf to the FlyPack and back to your shelf. Nothing is shipped to an outside lab and back.

Capacity in step with the archive

Storage grows in step with the migration, so it is added as content arrives rather than provisioned years ahead.

One pass per tape

Each tape is played once and captured at the highest quality the format holds. That capture becomes the file of record, so the tape does not need to be played again.
